Imperial Germans VI

1st Grenadier Regiment is now good to go, with supporting artillery battery and uhlans from both the Bde Cavalry Squadron and 2nd Cavalry Bde:

These were the last of 2014's Germans to roll off the painting conveyor belt:

So time to move onto 41st Infantry Regiment...

  1. Great work. My WWI Germans for the new project are slightly later.

    1. I have a soft spot for the muddle of early war, much like yours for the SCW I suspect ;-)

    1. Phil Robinson and David Bickley have kindly given me a copy of their wip rules, but I will also try out a version of BP.

  3. They look cracking Stephen! I'm regretting the geographical distance down to your club, as I'd relish a chance to do some WW1 gaming with a collection as fine as this. Love the color scheme and how the blue shoulder straps and red regimental no. on the helmets adds vibrance to the palette of German grey.

    1. I know the feeling, but we could always do something 1914-ish in Copenhagen next Autumn...

    2. I'd really like that! And, it will set me up with a nice motivating target for painting on my WW1 project as well. Could you break down your basing setup for me? Then I'll adhere to this when basing up my minis (I was looking at BP as well). I'll supply more French, German and possibly even some Scots to the pot.

    3. Sure thing. Battalion command and MGs are on 50x50, but the normal infantry are two to a 50x25 base to ease their splitting down into open order if necessary (or two lines for Phil and David's rules). Cavalry are two to a 50x50 with individuals on 25x50. Guns are on 50x80 with the increased frontage of using two gun batteries offset by the larger infantry bases. Brigade/Regimental commanders are on 60 diameter circles and higher commanders will, in due course, be on a larger circular base (tbc) :-)
